31st Titirimundi edition 2017

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Titirimundi is a theatrical project aimed at the dissemination, promotion and development of the puppet arts.

31st Titirimundi edition 2017

Titirimundi promotes puppet theater as an artistic form with a traditional roots that has known how to adapt to the times without renouncing its popular origin, occupying a prominent place among the avant-garde theater. The puppet theater is today at the core of contemporary creation.

Each spring Titirimundi has been looking at the cultures of the world for more than thirty years with the intense and essential gaze of the puppet theaters, a millenary theater that resurfaces invested with the infinite forms that today define the arts of the puppet, a theater where, he says Darío Fo, all theatrical languages converge.

The transformation that puppet theater has undergone in the last three decades places us before a multidisciplinary theater, which is expressed with string puppets, glove puppets, with shadows, with anthropomorphic objects or with abstract and symbolic forms, among others and infinite variations, without forgetting the growing use of other artistic disciplines such as animation, cinema or new technologies.

A new edition of the Film Festival is here

Movie lovers are in luck. The Film Festival already has its dates confirmed for this year 2017 for its popular days of cheaper movie tickets.

World Theater Day 2017

Monday, March 27, 2017

The actress Isabelle Huppert has assured on the occasion of World Theater Day 2017, which is celebrated this Monday, March 27, that this artistic discipline "is always reborn from its ashes", at the same time that she has asked the rulers to attend this activity because it has "unimaginable benefits".

Every year, on March 27, different events are organized to highlight this anniversary. Each year, a recognized personality is in charge of reading a manifesto in which he reflects on the current situation of the theater, this time being the chosen Isabelle Huppert, an actress with a long history and considered one of the best actresses in the world.

World Theater Day Message 2017

World Theater Day 2017

Isabelle Huppert, France

So, here we are one more time. Reunited again in the spring, 55 years since our inaugural meeting, to celebrate World Theater Day. Just one day, 24 hours, is dedicated to celebrating theater around the world. And here we are in Paris, the main city in the world to attract international theater groups, to venerate the art of theater.

Paris is a world city, apt to contain in a day of celebration, the traditions of the world theater; From here in the capital of France, we can transport ourselves to Japan experiencing Noh and Bunraku theater, draw a line from here to thoughts and expressions as diverse as Peking Opera and Kathakali; the setting allows us to remain between Greece and Scandinavia while we wrap ourselves in Aeschylus and Ibsen, Sophocles and Strindberg; it allows us to fly between Britain and Italy while reverberating between Sarah Kane and Prinadello. In the course of these twenty-four hours we can go from France to Russia, from Racine and Moliere to Chekhov; We can even cross the Atlantic as a ray of inspiration to serve on a Campus in California, drawing a young student there to reinvent themselves and make a name for themselves in the theater.

In fact, the theater has such a prosperous life that it defies space and time; his more contemporary pieces draw on the achievements of centuries past, and even the most classical repertoires become modern and vital each time they are performed again. The theater is always reborn from its ashes, changing only its previous conventions into their new forms: this is how it stays alive.

World Theater Day is obviously not an everyday day to be integrated with the other days. It gives us access to an immense continuous space-time through the sheer majesty of the global canon. To have the ability to conceptualize this, let me quote a French playwright, as brilliant as he is discreet, Jean Tardieu: when thinking about space, Tardieu says it is sensible to ask "what is the longest path from one to the other?" .. He suggests measuring time "in tenths of a second, the time it takes to pronounce the word 'eternity'" ... For space-time, however, it says: "before you fall asleep, fix your mind on two points in space and calculate the time it takes, in a dream, to go from one to the other. " It is the phrase in a dream that has always stayed with me. It seems as if Tardieu and Bob Wilson have met. We can also sum up the temporal uniqueness of World Theater Day by quoting the words of Samuel Beckett, who makes Winnie's character say, in her expeditious style, "Oh, what a beautiful day it must have been." As I thought about this message, which I am honored to have been invited to write, I remembered all the dreams from all these scenes. As such, it is fair to say that I did not come to this UNESCO room alone; every character that I have played is here with me, roles that seem to fade when the curtain falls, but that have carved an underground life within me, waiting to help or destroy the roles that follow; Phaedra, Araminte, Orlando, Hedda Gabbler, Medea, Merteuil, Blanche DuBois ... Also, complementing me as I stand before you today, are all the characters that I loved and applauded as a spectator. In this way, therefore, I belong to the world. I am Greek, African, Syrian, Venetian, Russian, Brazilian, Persian, Roman, Japanese, a New Yorker, a Marseillaise, a Filipina, an Argentine, a Norwegian, a Korean, a German, an Austrian, an English - a true citizen of the world, by virtue of the personal assemblage that exists within me. Since it is here, on stage and in theater, where we find true globalization.

Laurence Olivier announced on World Theater Day in 1964 that, after more than a century of struggle, a National Theater had just been created in the UK, which he immediately wanted to transform into an international theater, at least in terms of its repertoire. He knew very well that Shakespeare belonged to the world.

In researching the writing of this message, I was pleased to learn that the inaugural message for World Theater Day 1962 was entrusted to Jean Cocteau, an appropriate candidate due to his authorship of the book 'Around the World Again in 80 Days'. again in 80 days). This made me realize that I have gone around the world in a different way. I did it in 80 performances or in 80 movies. I include films in this celebration as I do not distinguish between acting in theater or acting in movies, which even surprises me every time I say it, but it's true, that's right, I don't see a difference between the two.

Speaking here I am not myself, I am not an actress, I am one of the many people that the theater uses as a conduit to exist and it is my duty to be receptive to this - or, in other words, we do not make the theater exist, it is rather thanks to the theater that we exist. The theater is very strong. Resist and survive everything, wars, censors, hardship.

Suffice it to say that "the stage is a nude scene from an indeterminate time" - all you need is an actor. Or an actress. What are they going to do? What they will say? Will they talk? The public waits, they will know, because without the public there is no theater - never forget it. A single person is already an audience. But let's hope there aren't too many empty seats! The realizations of Ionesco's productions are always full, and he represents this frank and beautiful artistic value by having, at the end of one of his works, an old lady who says; "Yes, yes, die in full glory. Let us die to enter the legend ... at least we will have our street ..."

World Theater Day has been around for 55 years. In 55 years, I am the eighth woman to be invited to deliver a message - if you can call this a "message". My predecessors (oh, how the masculinity of the species is imposed) spoke of the theater of imagination, freedom and originality to evoke beauty, multiculturalism and pose unanswered questions. In 2013, just four years ago, Darío Fo said: "The only solution to the crisis lies in the hope of the great witch hunt against us, especially against young people who want to learn the art of theater: thus a new diaspora of actors it will emerge that they will undoubtedly derive from this limitation unimaginable benefits by finding a new representation. " Unimaginable benefits - sounds like a good formula, worthy of being included in any political rhetoric, doesn't it? ...

Since I am in Paris, shortly before a presidential election, I would like to suggest that those who apparently yearn to govern us should be aware of the unimaginable benefits that theater produces. But I would also like to stand out, not witch hunt!

The theater represents for me the other in its dialogue and it is the absence of hatred. "Friendship between peoples" - now, I don't know much about what this means, but I believe in community, in the friendship between spectators and actors, in the lasting union between all the people that the theater brings together - translators, educators, designers costume, stage artists, academics, professionals and audiences. The theater protects us; it gives us shelter ... I think the theater loves us ... as much as we love it ...

I remember a stage manager for whom I worked, who, before the night curtain rose, shouted, with full firmness of throat "Make room for the theater!" - and these will be my last words tonight.

Thank you

Last week of registration of candidatures for the MIN Awards

The MIN Awards for Independent Music keep the registration period for candidates open until January 31st. The process of determining the winners of the ninth edition combines the popular vote with the vote of professionals.

The registration period for candidates for the MIN Awards for Independent Music ends next Tuesday, January 31.

All artists with music recordings (songs, EPs or albums) released in 2016 by independent record producers or self-released artists will be able to register.

Video clips, live shows, productions, designs and photographs related to said musical recordings may also be registered.

+ Bases of the call (reading recommended)

The candidatures will be presented online through the web www.premiosmin.com by the artists, phonographic producers, music editors, managers or professionals who participate in the corresponding music recording.

All the categories to which you opt must be registered online under a single application. If the artist has published more than one musical recording during 2016, she must choose one of them and it will be this one with which she will participate in the awards.

Voting system

After the publication of the final candidates, a voting process is opened that combines the popular vote with that of the professionals in two phases:

- Public vote

The first phase of voting is done by the public. The 30 most voted candidates in each of the categories will be voted on by the jury.

The public may vote online on the website www.premiosmin.com, for which they must register in advance. Up to 5 votes per person may be cast in each of the categories.

- Jury vote

The second phase of voting is carried out by the professional jury, whose votes determine the finalists and winners for each of the categories.
